Equim Amore - Equine Portraits

My senior exhibition at Montana State, Equim Amore, is a deeply personal exploration of the profound beauty and intricate design of the horse. This series of equine portraiture, presented against a stark black backdrop, invites viewers to appreciate the animal's form with a fresh perspective, highlighting the delicate interplay of muscle, bone, and spirit.

Inspired by Mark Helprin's evocative words, "The horse moved like a dancer, which is not surprising. A horse is a beautiful animal, but he is perhaps most remarkable because he moves as if he always hears music," I sought to capture more than just anatomical accuracy. Each photograph is a testament to the horse's inherent grace and the silent symphony of its movement. Through meticulous lighting and composition, I aimed to strip away distractions, allowing the elegant lines and powerful presence of these magnificent creatures to truly resonate. Equim Amore is, at its heart, a fine art meditation on the living sculpture that is the horse, celebrating its enduring allure and the silent poetry of its form.
